Kamini Sharma
Hi, and welcome to my website.
I'm Kamini Sharma, a third-year PhD researcher at Delhi Technological University, India, where I build prediction models that try to answer a simple but hard question: how much warning can we actually give people before a hillslope gives way? I hold a master's in Earth Sciences and Geoinformatics, and my research focuses on landslide and debris-flow simulation and forecasting in Wayanad, Kerala - combining satellite imagery, rainfall data, and terrain physics into models that are good enough to be useful in the field, not just on paper.
I'm advised by Dr. K.C. Tiwari (DGST, DTU) and Dr. Maximillian Van Wyk de Vries, and affiliated with Cambridge's COMHAZ multi-hazard research group at the University of Cambridge, UK.
Alongside the PhD, I run EarthSpace Labs, a geospatial startup I founded to take that research out of the lab and into tools that district authorities, NGOs and People can use to make real decisions — including DebriMaps, already supporting the HUME Centre's work on the ground in Wayanad.
I'm also deeply invested in Teaching, science communication and geospatial awareness. I founded AntriX, the Geospatial Society of DTU - India's first student geospatial society - and organised its events, including GeoSpace TechFest and Geospatial for Bharat public awareness campaign, bringing geospatial and space technology to a wider Indian audience.
