Initial satellite analysis of Oct 2026 flooding in the Budhi Gandak River (Gorkha District, Nepal) indicates an erosive debris flow within the channel, possibly triggered by a landslide near Shyar Khola, Chumling. Until cloud-free imagery becomes available, the exact trigger remains unconfirmed, as glacial lakes are also present near the source valley. However, the debris flow has scoured significant channel deposits, washing large amounts of sediment downstream. Satellite data sourced from the ESA Copernicus Browser.
